Project CONNECT

Project CONNECT

Project CONNECT is a Reemployment Assistance (RA) modernization project intended to improve the claims, benefits, and appeals processes. Project Connect will replace the current collection of reemployment assistance systems, some which are more than 35 years old. In developing the new system, the Department is focused not just on new technology but also re-engineering processes for faster production, higher quality work products resulting in reduced costs, and improved service to claimants and employers.

The project scope covers all RA functions: initial claims and continued claims, wage determination, adjudication, appeals, benefit payment control and program integrity. Like the current system, CONNECT system will interface with various other state and federal systems for the data necessary to carry out the RA program.

Tampa Bay YouthBuild Program

Tampa Bay YouthBuild Program

WorkNet is accepting applications from highly motivated Pinellas County young adults, ages 17-24, for the Tampa Bay YouthBuild program.

Tampa Bay YouthBuild balances “in-school” learning with priority focus on attaining a high school diploma or GED while also working on occupational skills training in the construction trades. The program helps prepare at-risk youth for career placement or post-secondary training. Youth will need to be able to complete a large part of their construction training “hands on” at a local worksite. Tampa Bay YouthBuild students should be motivated to set career goals and pursue a solid career path.

For more information on eligibility please visit www.worknetpinellas.org/youthbuild.

SOAR was an absolutely awesome experience!  Yvette Reeves has been a great person of encouragement and motivation for me in my job and career search process.  I don’t know of anyone else who could have taught the class better.  I have felt very discouraged before taking the class but now I feel strengthened and more confident in the abilities I have to pursue my career goals and to also help make a difference in other people’s lives. – Roza Bulba

Florida’s economy takes on new look after the Great Recession

By Jeff Harrington, Tampa Bay Times

Florida’s workforce — the post-recession version — has a new face.

We’re making fewer machine parts, while serving more burgers and Cuban sandwiches to hungry tourists. We’re building fewer homes and, instead, building more home health care relationships catering to the ill and elderly. Read More
