Out-of-Office Emails

Out-of-Office Emails

Season’s greetings!

As many of us are preparing for our holiday vacations, we’d just like to remind you to set up an out-of-off response email for the days you will not be working. Some tips?

  • Do: keep it brief, include your return date and provide alternative contact information, if needed.
    • Thank you for your email. I will be out of the office until XX/XX, 2019.  For immediate assistance, please contact XXXX at XXX@email.com
  • Don’t: give too much information out or wait until the last minute.
    • Thank you for your email.  I’m obviously not at the office today. Instead, I’m on a nice sunny beach, enjoying my holiday, sipping tropical drinks from coconuts with my family on my mom’s side, friends and my puppy, Jingle.

Calling all Polar Explorers!

Calling all Polar Explorers!

Winter Camp registration is now open!   Many of our job-seekers, employers and fellow colleagues might have some little ones that want to make our balmy Florida weather take a back seat in our snowmobile as we venture into the North and South Poles – massive icebergs, the Northern Lights, the elusive muskoxen and reindeer of the Arctic and the leopard seal and killer whale predators of the Antarctic.

This is an excellent opportunity to link our community members to The Science Center and the Tyrone One-Stop Center. Registration is available online or through this packet. Flyers can be found here or under the “Marketing/Communications” tab under “The Science Center.”

It’s sure to be an arctic blast!

From Veterans, To Veterans: Ronald Hasty

From Veterans, To Veterans: Ronald Hasty

CareerSource Pinellas proudly honors Ronald Hasty, Master Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force for 22 years.  His bravery and commitment to a lifetime of service are heroic and inspiring.  We are very proud of his achievements, both in the military and here at CareerSource Pinellas as a member of our DVOP team.

We would like to thank Ron for sharing the following story about the veteran he had helped that made him feel like his job truly makes a difference.

“As I was reviewing the veteran’s “Veteran Initial Intake” sheet with him, he told me that he is restricted from applying to many jobs because he doesn’t have a high school diploma.  I asked him if he would have gotten his diploma during his first enlistment had he stayed in school.  He told me yes.  I also asked him what state would have issued him his diploma. He told me Connecticut.  While he was sitting in front of me, I called the Connecticut Department of Educate and asked the person on the phone if their state gives high school diplomas to veterans who leave school to join the military.  She told me they do.  I collected the information from the veteran and told him where he needs to send it.  In the days that followed, he came by the office trying to talk to me.  The third time he met with me.  He was very excited and with tears in his eyes, he told me that they informed him, that if he could make it back to Connecticut, they would formally present him with his diploma.  He was very grateful that I helped him.  At that moment, I realized that we do make a difference.”

From Veterans, To All: Scott Furbay, Steven Walker & Antonio Marra

From Veterans, To All: Scott Furbay, Steven Walker & Antonio Marra

While CareerSource Pinellas is proud to honor our DVOP and LVER team members, we’d also like to recognize additional staff who have served honorably in the U.S. Army.

Today, we would like to recognize Scott Furbay, Steven Walker and Antonio Marra for their bravery, courage and dedication to this country.

Scott served the U.S. Army for 9 years as a Personnel Records Administrator and now is a Resource Specialist and Employment Security Representative for CareerSource.  Scott believes that his 7 years spent at CSPIN combined with his military experience has enabled him to better service our clients with true compassion and understanding. It is his sincere hope to help as many people as possible, including our veterans, as he himself has benefitted greatly from the services and resources that CSPIN provides.

Steven also served the U.S. Army for 9 years but as an E4 Specialist. His service in Hanua, Germany during the Persian Gulf War with the 130th Engineer Brigade has inspired him to want to help and work with veterans to better their lives. His inspiration at CSPIN stems from working in the South County center, helping community members use today’s technology and helping them land employment. Steven finds great joy and happiness when customers come back with a big smile and a huge thank you for all of his assistance and support.

Additionally, Antonio served in the U.S. Army as a Calvary Scout for 4 years.  He has spent 3 years at CareerSource as a Placement Specialist, transferring his hard work and dedication from the military to our customers.  Employers constantly recognize Antonio for his diligence and dedication to his job, ensuring that both employers and job seekers can be satisfied through CSPIN’s onsite recruitment events.

Scott, Steven, and Antonio, your commitment and passion for helping others inspires us all to work harder every day.  Thank you for your service to our country, our company and our customers. We will never forget the sacrifices you’ve made to help those around you.
