Florida Department of Health Awards CareerSource Pinellas with Top Honors for Smoking Cessation Campaign
During this year’s Workforce Development Summit, CareerSource Pinellas was recognized by the Florida Department for having the most referrals to Tobacco Free Florida campaign. All 24 regional workforce boards partnered with Tobacco Free Florida in August 2015 to support tobacco users’ efforts to quit. In program year 2015-2016, CSPIN referred 1,134 job seekers to the program!
Kicking the habit not only has proven health and financial benefits, but as more and more businesses become tobacco free, it may improve job prospects as well. Referrals receive free one-on-one counseling, access to support groups, and FREE tobacco cessation products.
CareerSource Pinellas and CareerSource Tampa Bay Recognized for Top Job Placements
At this year’s Florida Workforce Development Summit, CareerSource Pinellas and CareerSource Tampa Bay were honored for having top job placements for June, July and August 2016.
The Governor’s Monthly Job Placement Report, developed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and CareerSource Florida, highlights job placement achievement for the 24 workforce boards. The report was created in response to the Governor’s call for enhanced measurement of performance outcomes in workforce development that bolster the state’s economic recovery and growth.
CSPIN ranked first on the June and July reports for assisting job seekers with gaining employment; 2,389 and 2,423 job placements, respectively. In August CSPIN ranked third with 2,499 job placements.
In August, CSTB ranked first on the report for assisting over 4,800 job seekers with gaining employment. CSTB ranked fifth in July with 3,068 job placements and in June ranked sixth with 3,078 job placements.
Patty Irving, Congratulations for Receiving the Workforce Professional Champion Award!
During this year’s Workforce Development Summit, Patty Irving was awarded the Workforce Professional Champion Award for Region 14. This award honors individuals on the frontline within the workforce system who demonstrate traits and characteristics worthy of emulation. Recipients of this award serve as teachers, role models and confidants to their peers.
As a key member of the Pinellas WIOA team, Patty helps to drive the regional performance with Pinellas holding or tied for the #1 in 9 out of the 11 WIOA MMR performance standards.
Patty takes the time to know her customers so she can assist them in selecting the best possible training program. She has become familiar with several of the academic assessment tools and reviews the results with customers so they can be successful and employed in the field they are seeking. Over the last 15 years Patty has been a top performer for the WIOA program and each year has the highest number of training enrollments and positive outcomes. Multiple customer compliments or “thank you’s” are received annually with Patty’s customers themselves applauding her customer service.
A quick review of Patty’s WIOA stats for the program year thru May 2016 shows why she is a top performer for the CareerSource Pinellas WIOA team. Patty has recruited and enrolled over 200 WIOA participants during PY2015-16. With over 260 WIOA participants during the same period, she has helped each participant meet their education goals, re-employ and exit the WIOA program positively. Her training completion rate is close to 90% and Patty does all this while maintaining an active caseload of over 200 WIOA participants. She is an integral part of the Pinellas WIOA team that helped to enroll close to 2000 new customers and close out over 1800 customers during the year.
